The Public is Invited to Visit!
Our exhibit team is working to locate a representation of the finest trees from private collections throughout the state. They are putting a tremendous effort into finding high quality bonsai that have not been viewed at previous conventions. In addition, all three permanent GSBF collections will display a number of their magnificent trees. Attendees at this convention will be treated to a unique, high quality exhibit and have the opportunity to see bonsai that have been displayed in club shows that they may not have been able to attend.
Convention 39 will feature an exhibit of suiseki and viewing stones. Be prepared for an exciting new experience in the art of stone presentation. Our exhibit will be one you will remember for years to come! Be sure to sign up for one of the exhibit critiques by noted author and viewing stone expert Tom Elias. Dr. Elias will also give a seminar on 'The Fundamentals of Stone Appreciation.' Do you have a stone to exhibit? If so, please email a photo of the front, back and sides of your stone, including daiza and stand you will use, to Paul Holtzen at pbholtzen@sbcglobal.net for consideration.
This is an exciting opportunity for members of bonsai clubs that are in good membership standing with the Golden State Bonsai Federation.  These members are encouraged to enter a bonsai in the Judged Bonsai Competition. Entries are limited to one per person in a choice of one of four categories: Conifer, Deciduous, Broadleaved Evergreen, and Shohin. Cash awards will be made in the amount of $200 in each of the four categories as well as $200 for the People's Choice Award and $500 for Best in Show. Winners for all categories, other than People's Choice, will be determined by the convention headliners Bjorn Bjorholm and Ryan Neil. Convention attendees will vote for the People's Choice Award.  Click here to print an entry form and instructions.
